In 2022, we introduced The Inventor’s Patent Academy, a three-module course covering the following critical aspects of IP and patenting:

• The importance of IP protection
• How to prepare and file a patent application
  
• Key resources to support your patent journey

That course guides a student through the patenting process, from application to issuance, and is ideal for inventors seeking a comprehensive understanding. It features videos of real inventors sharing the challenges and successes of their patenting journey.

During our first four years, we received feedback from educators who wanted a shorter introduction for their students; a course that covered the basics and fit well with their other curricula.

We call that course: Patent Essentials

Patent Essentials is an accelerated version of the full-length course. It focuses on the most critical elements of IP protection and patent filing, offering a faster path through the same core topics.

This course is ideal if you want the essentials without the extended details required if you are ready to file for a patent.

Both courses were created by patent holders, patent practitioners, and innovation experts, including Erin Kelley and Bernard Greenspan, PhD—educators who understand the patent system from the inside out.

Throughout Patent Essentials, you’ll still learn directly from inventors who are passionate about helping other inventors. Their goal is simple: give aspiring inventors clear, practical knowledge they can use immediately.
